Well, since I've got this hot new laptop just waiting to be filled with porn pictures of half-dressed men semi-legal software stuff I've decided to get into the gaming genre known as visual novels, specifically, otome games.
Otome games, for those who don't know, are basically dating sim games that are targeted for a female market, with the main focus being in hooking up the heroine with one of the male characters. Want more information, click the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otome_game
Now, on to the good stuff:
Here's a quick rundown of the plot: Some random girl gets accepted into what was once an all-boy's school. The heroine, being the special snowflake that she is, is the first female student to ever be accepted into the school. Now, normally, this sort of thing would lead to all sorts of crazy non-consensual shenanigans, but thankfully this is an otome game.
We learn that the heroine is not alone at the school. Her two childhood friends also attend school with her. There is also a third childhood friend who appears in the form of a transfer student. These are the three love interest that appear in the game:
There is the tsundere delinquent, Kanata Nanami who has some kind of health issue (apparently a terminal illness of some kind). It's painfully obvious that he's in love with the heroine, which is why he has such an attitude for Yoh.
There is the Rei, Yoh Tomoe, who has an emotionless face and a smart mouth. He has red hair and light red eyes, which apparently makes him French. He's in love with the heroine as well, and doesn't get along with Kanata and Suzuya.
Then there's Suzuya Tohzuki, the mother hen of the group, and yet another childhood friend of the heroine. As the big-brother mother hen type, Suzuya is basically there to mother the three characters and love the heroine in a quiet, secret fashion. Sort of like the Phantom of the Opera, except without the mask.
So those are the love choices: Tsundere deliquent, teh Rei, and the big brother.
I have a weakness for those types of characters so its hard to decide who I'm going to have the heroine go after first. All signs point to Kanata, there's nothing I love more than a male tsundere.
Will post a full review once I have finished the game.
